Welcome to Atomic Addiction...

The addiction has begun...
The purpose of this blog is to have a place to share our Mid-Century quest with everyone. Above is a picture of our 1949 Cape Cod. Sure it isn't a 50's ranch... but not everyone can have one. We bought the home in 2006 and have been happy with it since. The house lends itself nicely to the Mid-Century stylings that we enjoy. The home was a farm house for many years. Once the land was sold off, it was developed. Our house is surrounded by 1990's ranches so it sticks out like a sore thumb. To me thats a good thing.

Most of the home is original and untouched. Perfect for us. In my opinion, too many homes of the era have been gutted and "Home Depot-ed". Which of course takes away a lot of charm and character. The main bathroom was redone at one point and will get renovated down the road. Other than that not much has been changed. We are slowly making this house our home. We will post any inprovements and additions to the home in the future. This is a SLOW process, but it is coming along.

Along with the home, our addiction to Mid-Century funishings will also be posted. We often find good deals and will keep you posted. We tend to go for items that are from the 40's, 50's and 60's. We often will buy a brand new item with a good Mid-Century look if we can find it. If we find a new item on the market, we will share that item here. Of course, nothing compares to the "high" of finding that perfect vintage item in a thrift store. Anyone on a similar quest to ours knows the feeling of the euphoria. Hence the name... Atomic Addiction.

We hope everyone enjoys the effort and be sure to stay tuned!

Welcome to the retroblogosphere!
You absolutely do NOT need to apologize for your lovely Cape Cod house. In fact, the CAPE -- not the ranch -- was the most popular home during the 50s! - Pam at RetroRenovation.com

Thanks Pam,
Again, you have a great site. I hope mine will someday be as nice as yours.
