EDIT: Someone left a comment that this is a Paul McCobb Planner Group Occasional chair, circa 1950. Made from maple wood with a walnut stain.

Garage Sale Captain's Chair...
We found this chair at a garage sale last weekend. Not a bad looking chair. I'm not sure who made it or even how old it is but it kinda has some danish lines to it. I'm going to sand it down and refinish it at some point. It really needs it. The chair cost me a whopping 5 bucks.

OMG, that is a fabbo chair--I would have totally been fighting you for it if I'd been there! I'd certainly say mid-century, very possibly Danish (not that I know anything about it!).
I have been searching for years for information about the maker of this chair. My father used it as his desk chair for all of my life and it is now one of my most cherished possessions. It's probably not worth much money (when you buy all of your furniture from the only furniture store in England, Arkansas you can assume they aren't designer oringinals) but I love it anyway.
Lindsey,
Do you have a pic of your chair? Does it have the same finish on it as mine? I am currently refinishing this one. Not sure what color I'm going to make it. If you find out any info on this chair let me know. Mine is missing the tag also.
Thanks,
Brian

No picture as I am computer illiterate and cannot figure out how to insert the link. Anyway, mine is the same finish as yours but is weathered down to bare wood on a portion of the seat. The wood looks like walnut to me but it is really red from the stain. The chair used to have a flesh-toned nubby leather seat cushion but mine has been lost over the years.

WOW! Thank you very much to whoever you are. I really appreciate you ending that mystery for me. I'm sure Lindsey will too.
Thanks again!

I have been looking to purchase this chair. Is anyone willing to see it?
Thank you,
I was just going to tell you that this was a Paul McCobb but I see someone has beat me to it. Glad we are out of the dark.
