Save The Pink Bathrooms Campaign...

Pam at Retro Renovation has started "Save The Pink Bathroom" posts on her blog. I guess I have hoisted the banner a bit higher by adding the fuel for everyone's fire. HGTV has a show called Save My Bath. While I watch more than my share of HGTV, I find this one show to be crap. Now we all know that there are some nasty bathrooms out there but the charming 1950's baths can be left alone. Of course, most of the baths I see on these shows with the great vintage tile and fixtures have some bad stuff in them. Ugly wallpaper or other things of that nature can be easily fixed. It doesn't help that most of these homeowners couldn't decorate these vintage bathrooms to save their souls. Your pink tile is going to look like crap when you put in purple and brown shower curtains and rugs. White and black goes with everything people.

Do you have a great vintage bathroom? Well don't gut it, silly. Save it for someone else! If you are dying to have the latest in bathroom trends... The least you could do is try and save the fixtures and put them on the market.

Those with a love for vintage bathrooms should go check out Pam's posts at the Retro Renovation blog...

Maybe we should get T-shirts and buttons printed up to spread the Save The Pink Bathrooms cause???

Retromodgirl,

Heck no, I don't mind at all. I'm flattered! I'm glad you dig the blog.

Thanks for the nomination!

Just wanted to comment on your post, too. I cringe when I see people wrecking perfectly good retro bathrooms on shows like HGTV's
Save my Bath. I agree that there is nothing wrong with these rooms that a little quality retro-re-decorating couldn't fix. Those people who demolish them have little to no imagination and have no right to own such treasures. Just my two cents. :)

Amen to this post! My dream house would definitely have the pink tile intact.
